Added postlude
from Roger T. DeWolf's memorial service. The
song was "Amazing Grace" played by Roger's daughter, Debbie Emery, on
piano and Roger's son-in-law, Steven Emery, on trumpet in a blues, jazz,
Dixieland, and Bourbon Street style.

Added the written
text of the reminiscences about Roger T. DeWolf, RHS class of 1939, given at his
memorial service by his son Jim DeWolf. And we have posted an
audio file of the pastoral
reminiscences. We plan to get a written version of the pastor's remarks
and post them, too. Even if you don't know Roger, we think you will enjoy
these remarks about him.

We've posted a fun and thoughtful
story that
Nancy Brinkman, who is the children's librarian at the Rolfe Public
Library, sent us about the library moving into its facilities at the
newly-constructed community center. We hope she will send us some photos
of the move to post along with the story. But one thing at a time. We're
grateful that she sent the story.

We've changed our address and, therefore, have posted a
new page of information about how to contact
us. Eventually, we will comb through the site in an attempt to have
various hyperlinks to point to this page rather than our old addresses.

We regretfully report the death of Joy Howard Hayes (RHS
class of 1969). She lived in Hawaii and passed away late this summer
following a short illness. Her parents, Velma and Verle Howard, have said
they will send any obituary or memorial information to us when it is
available.
-
We apologize for the lack of updating this web site in
recent months. The two of us who have been working on the site have been
distracted by other priorities. Chris Simonson, who has been the memorial
page editor, and his wife had their first child. Helen Gunderson, who is
the editor, has been caught up in being a political activist in the small
town where she lives north of Ames. She is also trying to focus on a book
she is writing about the road she grew up on between Rolfe and Pocahontas
and would like to finish it in the next few months. But it's easy to find
excuses to procrastinate.

We did add a couple of new items to the
Rolfe News page, including a
link to a fascinating web site at Iowa State University called the
Iowa Geographic Image Map Server.
Our favorite image was a black and white aerial of Rolfe and the
surrounding area.

Main Street in the 1960s that Lorene Hansen loaned us. The other is a
color photo of Main Street on Memorial Day, 2003, taken by Helen
Gunderson. The concrete floor and sidewalk has been poured.
