MARY LOU GILL

Rolfe - Mary Lou -Gill, age 70, died on Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Pocahontas, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, with Rev. Tamara EnTin officiating. Interment was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe. Survivors include her husband Bob of Rolfe; sister Alice Spencer of West Bend; brothers, Vernon Marine of Whittemore and George "Joe" (Betty) of Rolfe; sister-in-law Shirley (Harold) Fangman of Bancroft; brother-in-law Eugene of Rolfe; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Edsel, Verl, and Kenneth.

Mary Lou Marine was born on November 17, 1932, at Paton. She was the daughter of George and Gletha (Myers) Marine. Mary Lou moved with her family to Plover in 1933, and then to a farm north of Rolfe in 1936. In 1946, her family moved to Graettinger and Mary Lou graduated from Graettinger High School in 1950. She worked at the grocery store in Graettinger as a telephone operator in Rolfe and as a dietary aide at the Residential Care Center in Pocahontas for seventeen years. On February 25, 1967, Mary Lou married Robert Gill at Rolfe. The couple made their home on their farm near Rolfe until 1970, when they moved into Rolfe.

Mary Lou was a member of the Shared Ministry of Rolfe. She had served as the United Methodist Church secretary for several years. Mary Lou enjoyed reading, crocheting, needlepoint, and watching television in her spare time.

Mary Lou was a very loving and gentle individual and will be missed by her family and many friends.
