WILLIAM SANDVIG

 Rolfe — William Sandvig, age 81, of Rolfe, died on March 12, 2003, at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge.

 Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery, Rolfe.

 Survivors include wife Elnora "Eleanor" Sandvig of Rolfe; daughters, Linda (Lyle) Reese of Farnhamville, and Carol (Joe) Boeckholt of Rolfe; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sisters, Jane Firkins of Newton, and Pat Leadley of Storm Lake; brothers, Arnold (Monique) Sandvig of Los Angeles, California, Jack (Betty) Sandvig of Iowa City, and Jim (Kathy) Sandvig of Rolfe; and sister-in-law Marvel Sandvig of Rolfe. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don, and sisters, Donna Young and Maurine Spiker.

 Edlef William Sandvig was born on Aug. 7, 1921, at Rolfe. He was the son of Elmer and Sadie (Lilly) Sandvig. Bill was educated in Rolfe schools. On May 5, 1943, Bill married Elnora (Eleanor) Dornath at Fairmont, Minn. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. After his discharge, Bill returned to Rolfe. He drove truck in the area for several trucking firms. Bill was custodian at the Rolfe School In the late 1970s to the early 1980s, and was currently custodian at the Rolfe Post Office.

 Bill was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He was a hunter and an avid fisherman. Bill especially loved spending time with his many friends and his grandchildren.
