On December 31, 2002, construction began in Rolfe on a new community center. It will house the public library, city hall, and a large meeting area. The above photo is a reasonable facsimile of what the Rolfe Enrichment committee envisions for completed building. In early January of 2003, the Fort Dodge Messenger published a feature story about the project.

The photo below shows Rolfe's downtown (or uptown) Main Street district in the 1960s. The camera faces north, northeast. All the tall buildings on the east side of the street are gone. The new community center is being built in the area where the tallest buildings on the right (with the double set of awnings) once stood. The photo is from Lorene Hansen's collection.
