VIRGIL E. VAUGHN

Rolfe -- Virgil E. Vaughn. 89, died Saturday. April 5. 2003. at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. April 8. at the Shared Ministry of Rolfe, with the Rev. Tamara EnTin officiating. Burial was at Clinton Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.

Virgil Ernest Vaughn was born November 25, 1913. near Rolfe. He was the son of Ernest and Anna (Brinkman) Vaughn. Virgil was educated in area schools, graduating from D.M.T. High School in 1932. On August 24. 1941, Virgil married Grace Ross at the Methodist Church in Rolfe. The couple made their home on their farm near Rolfe until 1976 when they moved into Rolfe. Virgil farmed, drove trucks and bought livestock for farmers in the area. He semi-retired in 1976, but had continued to help his son, Bob in the trucking business. Grace died on Nov. 23, 1999, and Virgil had continued to make his home at Rolfe.

Virgil was a member of the Shared Ministry of Rolfe. He and Grace enjoyed square dancing, and Virgil liked listening to polka music and taking an afternoon drive in his car.

Survivors include his daughter Janet (Paul) Oldham of Algona; son Bob (Jean) Vaughn of Rolfe: eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Grace and sisters, Frances Mosbach, Virginia Henderson and Divonia Henderson.
