DORIS J. MINKLER

Plover — Doris J. Minkler, age 74, of Plover, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Pocahontas Manor in Pocahontas, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the Hope United Methodist Church in Plover, with the Rev. Thorne Wittstruck officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery near Plover.

Survivors include her husband Floyd Minkler of Plover; sons, Allan (Karen) Minkler of Plover and Gayle (Heide) Minkler of Wake Village, Texas; six grandchildren, Allan, Jr., Cory, Eric, Kevin, Heather, and Christy; three great-grandchildren; brother Vernon (Alice) Harmon of Spencer; sisters, Pearl Israel of Newton, Jessalie (Fred) Froh of Duncombe and Donna McCullough of Davis Junction, Illinois; sister-in-law Elaine Harmon of Vista, California; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Harmon.

Doris Jean Harmon was born August 9, 1928, at Rolfe, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lee and Ivy (Smith) Harmon. She graduated from Rolfe High School in 1946. On April 17, 1949, Doris married Floyd Minkler at the Rolfe United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R. G. Minkler D.D. officiating. The couple settled in Plover. Doris worked for the Lehman Produce in Rolfe, Plover Produce, New Plover Cafe and as a cook at the Pocahontas Manor. She entered the Pocahontas Manor as a resident in April of 2002.

Doris was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church, the UMW, KSK, Tops Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
