2013 Rolfe
water fights, parade, and
all-class school reunion
The town of Rolfe
celebrated its 150th anniversary during its annual Greater Rolfe
Days held on the weekend of July 13, 2013. There were youth
water fights sponsored by the fire department, a parade, lots of
food, and many other activities.
The Rolfe High School alumni also gathered on the same weekend for their
all-class school reunion. Rolfe's last senior graduation was in 1990,
and now Rolfe students attend the Pocahontas Area Community School in
Pocahontas.
The RHS alumni have held all-class reunions every five years during the
past several decades. Typically, the reunions are held in years with
numbers such as 1990, 1995, 2000, and 2005. However, the reunion committee
decided to skip 2010 and have the next reunion when the town
celebrated its sesquicentennial. Dinner started late in the afternoon
with those alumni from classes earlier than 1963 meeting at the
community center on Main Street and younger alumni meeting at the golf
club.
Helen Gunderson shot
video footage of the
water fights, parade, and reunion. In
February 2014, she edited the footage and posted these YouTube
files.
The original, high definition, video files are
part of Helen's collection at the Iowa State University Special
Collections
Department
on the 4th floor of Parks Library on the ISU campus in Ames,
Iowa.

native of the Rolfe area, graduating from RHS in 1963, and
