Video available of 1950's footage from
Superintendent Mortensen's collection
One of the fun things for those students and faculty members from the 50's and 60's who attended the reunion was home movies from Superintendent R. O. Mortensen's collection. Ralph was at the Rolfe schools from 1948-1959. We went to a digital editing suite in Des Moines and tightly edited the footage and added music to make a great 22-minute video. There are several sections in the show:
The footage appears to be from 1954-1959. You’ll see samples of the kinds of subject matter contained in the video by looking at the slides from Mr. Mortensen’s collection in the 1950's photo gallery on this website. You can also see the actual video at the Rolfe library. Click on the photo to go to the 1950's photo gallery. Emily Anderson contributed a couple days worth of work to create a great medley of music for the sound track using a computerized keyboard with many special effects. Emily is a former Rolfe teacher, board member, and parent of two alumni (Kay and Tom). She now lives in Story City. Click here for Emily's rendition of the Rolfe "Loyalty" for the soundtrack. (You will need to have Real Audio's Real Player v.6.0.6.99 installed on your computer. To download a free version click here.) People can order copies of the
video. The price is $14.95 per plus 6% sales tax. If picked up at the
Rolfe State Bank, there If you have questions or suggestions, please contact Helen Gunderson who has contributed her time and funds to produce the video and make it available on a not-for-profit basis. Click here for a video order form. |
