ORVILLE C. POHL

Rolfe — Orville Pohl, age 84, died on May 20, 2004, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 24, 2004 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Rolfe, with Pastor Lilette Johnston officiating. Interment was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery, Rolfe.

Orville Charles Pohl was born on November 9, 1919, near Manson. He was the son of Charles and Florence (Meier) Pohl. Orville was educated in Barnum and Havelock area schools. During WW II, he served in the Army Air Corps at Randolph Field, TX. On January 8, 1944, Orville married Neva Rogers at Randolph Field. After his discharge, Orville farmed in the Hamlin area. He also farmed at Rockwell City, before moving to Rolfe in 1966. Orville was the custodian at the Rolfe Community School until he retired in 1983.

Orville was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church arid the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, taking his morning walks and visiting with his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife: Neva; daughter: Beth Blomgren of Albert City; grandchildren: Damon Saathoff of Humboldt, Melanie Hennings of Fort Dodge, Dawn Pistulka of Cologne, Minn., and Patrick Blomgren of Albert City, eleven great-grandchildren, sister: Violet Nomann of Pocahontas and brother, Lloyd (Velma) Pohl of Rolfe.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Nadine Saathoff, grandson, Aaron Saathoff, brother, Charles and son-in-law, Colin Blomgren.
