DOROTHY S. BRINKMAN

Rolfe — Dorothy S. Brinkman, 87, died on Thursday, August 26, 2004, at the Rolfe Care Center. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 30, at the Shared Ministry of Rolfe with Pastor Charles Miller Officiating. Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery near Rolfe.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Ann (Joseph) Clinton, Edina, Minnesota: son John (Marcia) Brinkman, Ballwin, Missouri: grandchildren Megan (Peter) Agren: Michelle and Caitlin Clinton: and Dan (Stephanie), Jake and Stacy Brinkman. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband William and brother Mason Schaefer.

Dorothy Maxine Schaefer was born on June 11, 1917, at Schaller. She was the daughter of Edwin and Laura Junkermeier Schaefer. Dorothy graduated from Schaller High School in 1934 and attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She received her teaching certificate at Buena Vista and taught in Rolfe for several years. While teaching in Rolfe, she met William J. Brinkman. On June 9, 1943, Dorothy married Bill at Schaller. Bill was in the U. S. Marine Corps and he and Dorothy made their hone in Santa Ana, California. When Bill was sent overseas, Dorothy lived in Schaller, where she taught Kindergarten. After his discharge, the couple moved to Rolfe. Dorothy was active in the operation of Brinkman Auto. In August of 1999, Dorothy entered the Rolfe Care Center. Bill died on August 7, 2000.

Dorothy was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church, now the Shared Ministry. She was a trustee, a session elder and belonged to the Presbyterian Women. Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was past president of the P.E.O., the Tuesday Club and Sorosis. In her spare time, Dorothy was a volunteer at school and in the scouting programs. She enjoyed reading, baking, and spending time with her family.
