MARVIN J. ZEMAN

March 16, 1929 - March 17, 2009

Marvin Jerome Zeman was born on March 16, 1929, in Roosevelt Township near Pocahontas. He was the son of Charles and Agnes (Hotovec) Zeman. At a young age, his family moved to Rolfe. He graduated from Des Moines Township School in 1946. Marvin worked for Robinson Farm Equipment in Rolfe until he entered the US Army in 1951. He served in Korea and Japan until his discharge in 1953. He returned to Rolfe and worked at Mertz Implement in West Band as a tractor mechanic. On July 9, 1968, Marvin married Phyllis Baadte at Emmetsburg. Marvin owned and operated Rolfe Tractor Service from 1978 to 1991, when he retired. 

Marvin belonged to St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Buick Owners Club of America. He enjoyed music and restoring old tractors. 

Survivors include his wife: Phyllis; daughters: Laurie Baadte of Phoenix, AZ, Lisa VanderZanden of Portland, OR and Lynn McCleary of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren and sister, Marcella (Tom) Triplett of Montrose, CO. 

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Arnold, Allan, Bernard and Kenneth.
