LOUIS WILLIAM ZEMAN POCAHONTAS - Louis W. Zeman, age 51, of Pocahontas, died on January 6, 2009 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church in Pocahontas, with Fr. Merle Kollasch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at the Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas. with a Parish Vigil service at 7 p.m. Louis William Zeman was born Aug. 27, 1957, at Emmetsburg, to John and Lavon (Auten) Zeman. He was raised on a farm near Rolfe. He graduated from Rolfe High School in 1976. On July 1, 1977, he married Debbie Murphy at Pomeroy. They made their home in Pocahontas. They raised two sons, Terry and Matthew. Louis worked for Buske Mfg. for 27 years until they closed their doors. Louis started farming part time as well as mechanic work. Winters, he moved snow. Despite several health problems, Louis always kept busy. He worked hard to achieve his dreams. His hobbies included street rods and generally anything related to horsepower. At one time or another he had various street rods, and ultra lite plane, a Harley Davidson and a garden pulling tractor. His favorite was spending time visiting at his brother Joe's shop and being around his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John Zeman. He is survived by his wife Deb; his sons Terry Zeman, Humboldt, and Matt (Emily) Zeman, Ames; two grandchildren Brooklyn and Riley Zeman; his mother Lavon Zeman, Pocahontas; brothers Jim and Joe (Peggy) and sister Louise (Mark) Gerrard, all of Pocahontas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
