ESTHER
WILSON
Esther Hilda Moss Wilson was born to Jacob and Lena Moss on April 25, 1927 in
Hull. She attended Hull Public School and graduated in 1945. She graduated as
valedictorian from Northwestern Junior College of Orange City n 1947 and as
salutatorian from the University of Northern Iowa in 1949 with a major in music.
She taught business shorthand and music in the Rolfe Consolidated School where
she met and married Norris A. (Jim) Wilson I on July 17, 1950.
She served as Vice Chairman of the Iowa chapter for the passage of the N.O.W.
amendment. Esther was actively involved with Republican politics and the
Methodist Church of Rolfe where she directed the junior choir for many years and
was a member of the Women’s Society. She served as a substitute teacher in the
Rolfe school and was also a member of P.E.O. She and her husband enjoyed living
on their farm just south of Rolfe, and in their retirement years, they spent the
winters in Sun City, Arizona.
In March of 1998, her husband of 48 years passed away. Esther continued to live
in Arizona until July of 2003. She came back to Iowa and in 2004 she moved to
the Rolfe Care Center. She is survived by one sister, Theresa Post of Waukee;
one daughter, Janis Sue Cerasani of Alexandria, Virginia; one son, Norris Aubrey
(Jim)Wilson II of Buckingham, Virginia; six grandchildren and twelve
great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her husband, Jim, and two brothers, Arthur and Henry Moss.
