newspaper obituary Don Jean Sinek, 76, of 340 Golfview Ave., died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, in Mercy Iowa City from complications related to a pulmonary illness. Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, by the Rev. Ken Kuntz. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Saturday, St. Margaret's Cemetery, Rolfe, by the Rev. Tim Fitgerald. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are with Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Mr. Sinek was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Rolfe, Iowa, the son of Leon and Margaret Shimon Sinek. He was a graduate of Rolfe High School and a 1949 graduate of Iowa State University, with a B.S. degree in landscape architecture. He was a landscape architect for the University of Iowa since 1950, retiring in 1988. Mr. Sinek was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Theta Xi, American Society of Landscape Architects, Iowa Chapter of ASLA and Tau Sigma Delta, -in honorary fine arts fraternity. fie was a past member of the Lions Club. Survivors include his sister, Betty Sandvig and husband Jack of Iowa City; 15 nieces and nephews: Mary Jo, Susan, Kathy, Pat, Nancy, Terry, Kevin, Dave, Diane, Paula, Greg, Lori, Dan, Sara and Cindy; and 21 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Margaret
Vainreb; and-a brother Paul.
