Obituary CLARA SHIMON ROLFE — Clara B. Shimon, 96, of Rolfe, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2006, in Payson, Arizona. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 2 at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City, Iowa, with the Rev. Ray Block officiating. Burial will follow at Clinton-Garfield Cemetery near Rolfe, Iowa. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clement, brothers, Albert, George, Robert and Carl Wiegert, and sister, Emma McCreary. Survivors include her children: Carol (Paul) Waters of Mesa, Arizona, Ronald (DonnaRae) Shimon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marilyn (Jerry) Chafee of Albert Lee, Minnesota, and Raymond (Mary Lou) Shimon of Pocahontas, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Clara, daughter of Herman and Louise Wiegert, was born December 20, 1909, on a farm near Gilmore City, Iowa. She was the youngest of six children. Clara received her early education at a country school then attended high school in Rolfe, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1927. On September 18, 1928, Clara was united in marriage with Clement Shimon at Clara’s parents’ home near Gilmore City. The couple lived and farmed in the Rolfe area, where they raised their four children. Clement died in 1955 and Clara continued to live in the the Rolfe area nearly all her life. Clara lived in Payson, Arizona for the past three years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, working in her garden and helping others. Clara was a charter member of First Lutheran Church of Gilmore City. Her faith and abundant love was shared with many throughout her life. Those who knew her will continue to be touched by her gracious spirit. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
