DOROTHY A. RICKLEFS

Rolfe — Dorothy A. Ricklefs, age 75, of Rolfe, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Shared Ministry of Rolfe with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial was In Clinton-Garfield Cemetery near Rolfe.

Dorothy Ann Sandven was born on May 26, 1929, near Humboldt. She was the daughter of Levi and Pearl (Behrens) Sandven. Dorothy graduated from Humboldt High School In 1947 and received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught kindergarten and Junior high students at Rolfe and was a substitute teacher for many years. On August 12, 1950, Dorothy married Virgil Ricklefs at Humboldt. The couple farmed and raised their family on their farm southeast of Rolfe for the past fifty five years. Dorothy is remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother and a generous and helpful servant to others.

Dorothy was a member of the Shared Ministry and church circle, the PEO, the Christian Women’s Club, 4-H, Girl Scouts, and the Emmetsburg Quilting Club. She especially enjoyed quilting, also gardening and baking. Dorothy’s family was always the center of her attention, made special by countless holiday and Christmas celebrations at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Virgil; children Dennis (Donna) Ricklefs of Rolfe, Connie (Steve) Jorgensen of Newell, Audrey (Kent) Schwartz of Ames, and Scott (Jodi) Ricklefs of Rolfe; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Lowell (Norma) Sandven of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gilbert (Joan) Sandven of Humboldt and sister, Sharon (Peter) Saul of Rawlett, Texas.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Marvin.
