JOHN C. RICKARD

JOHNSTOWN, Colo. - John Curtis Rickard, 59, of Johnstown, Colo., passed away on March 31, 2009.

John was born on January 20, 1950 in Laurens, Iowa, to H. Keith and Charlotte (Mack) Rickard of Rolfe. John grew up in Rolfe. He was very active in sports at Rolfe High School, played football at Wayne State College, Wayne, Neb. and later attended Colorado State University.

John and Susan Minney were married in 1977. To that union were born Colleen, Jennifer and Jeffrey. He later married Carrie Smith.

John retired in 2009 from Suncor in Commerce City, Co., after 30 years.

John is survived by his wife, Carrie; mother, Charlotte Rickard, Rolfe; daughters, Colleen (Matt) Esser, Brighton, Colo.; Jennifer, Commerce City, Colo.; and son Jeff (and special friend) Ashley Moran, Westminster, Colo.; sisters, Jeannette (Jim) FitzGerald, Urbana, Ill.; Cheryl (John) VanDeVoorde, Lynn Center, Ill. and Donna (Jim) Viers, Rolfe; granddaughter, Claire Esser; many nieces and nephews and a stepson.

John was preceded in death by his father and sister Arlene Steele.

Cremation services have been accorded. A memorial service was held at Howe Mortuary Chapel, Longmont, Colo. on April 6, 2009.
