obituary from newspaper PHYLLIS LOUISE PETERSON Rolfe — Phyllis Louise Peterson died of an aneurysm Thursday, September 12, 2002, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Her funeral was Monday, September 16, at the St. Mark Lutheran Church, ELCA, in West Des Moines with Jeffery Alvestad, Senior Pastor officiating. Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Larry; a daughter, Janelle Peterson of West Des Moines; a son, Marc (Ginny) and their son, Evan William of West Des Moines; her mother, Dorothy Lou Pedersen of Rolfe; and four brothers, Steve (Sue) of West Bend, Michael (Paula) of Rolfe, Dean (Paula) of Fort Dodge, and Joseph (Sue) of Laurens; and a grandchild, Evan. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Pedersen, and an infant brother, Isaac. Phyllis was born in Emmetsburg in 1946, graduated from Rolfe in 1964 and Iowa Methodist Nursing School in 1967. She married Larry Peterson in 1967 and they made their home in Des Moines. Phyllis was a registered nurse and family liaison for the surgical center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. She was a member of Vocal Arts Ensemble, and enjoyed singing, cross-stitching, and volunteering to assist the elderly. She was very family oriented and active in her church. She was especially proud of her new grandchild, Evan, of seven weeks.

Note: When Phyllis was in high school in the 1960s, she was a part of the Polka Dots trio. The group performed at the RHS All-Class Reunion in 1990.
