Lola Peterson in August 1997 LOLA PETERSON Sioux Fa11s, S.D. — Lola Peterson, age. 97, passed away on September 28, 2007 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Funeral services were held on October 2, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe, with Pastor Keith Sievers officiating. Burial was at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe. Lola Lena Christensen was born on May 28, 1910, at Ware, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Mary (Barnhardt) Christensen. In 1914, her family moved south of Plover. She graduated from Plover High School in 1928. She went to Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Lola taught at area country schools. On March 7, 1931, Lola married Martin C. Peterson at Rolfe. The couple farmed northwest of Rolfe. Lola was activities director at the Laurens Nursing Home. In 1974, the couple moved into Rolfe. They spent their winters in Texas. Martin died on May 17, 1992, and Lola continued to make her home in Rolfe until January of 2004, when she moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. Lola was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the WELCA. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and crocheting. Survivors include her children, Joleen (Richard) Peterson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Roger (Alverna) Peterson of Sweeny, Texas, and Loren (Joanne) Peterson of Waverly; 7 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Lola was preceded in death by parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.
