ij Kenneth Gene Pederson March 26, 1933 - April 9, 2009 Kenneth Gene Pederson was born March 26, 1933, at Rolfe, Iowa. He was the son of Cecil and Mae (Cox) Pederson. He graduated from Rolfe High School in 1953 and Iowa Central Community College in 1969 with further studies at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. In 1953, he married Dolores Hendrickson at Rolfe. In 1954, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp Gordon, GA and Holloman Air Force Base, Alamogordo, NM. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Rolfe where he worked for Iowa Electric Light & Power as a lineman for four years. He then operated his own freight and paper route business for 19 years. In 1979, he started with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, eventually becoming the postmaster of Rutland. He retired in 1998 and later worked for the Postal Service as a city route inspector, traveling to various cities and states. He was a member of the Shared Ministry of Rolfe where he held various offices as well as being a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Humboldt Chapter of the Model A Club of America. For many years he was the reserve police officer for Rolfe, a member of the Rolfe Fire Dept. and a driver for the ambulance crew. Kenny loved sports and participated in football, basketball, baseball and track when in school. He played softball and basketball for the town league after returning from the Army. He looked forward to fishing in Spirit Lake every spring, cheering on the Hawkeyes & Green Bay Packers and driving his Model A. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dolores; children, Curt (Jeanne) of Beavercreek, OH; Craig (Anne) of Des Moines; Troy (Phil) of Celebration, FL and Tammy (Jim) Shimon of Rolfe; grandchildren, Rob (Nancy), Jackie (Brad), Mike, Jeanne (Jeremy), Jarod (Jackie), Ryan & Nikita; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Mason, Braxton & Delaney; sisters, Jane (Bill) Cirks and Janet (Don) Rabbitt and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kenny will always be remembered for his humor and love of life. Facts Survived By |
