Rolfe Elizabeth "Betty" Orth, age 97, passed. away on November 23, 2007, at the Rolfe Care Center. Funeral services were held graveside on Monday, November 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Summit Hill Cemetery in Pocahontas, with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Powers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth Stumpf was born on December 16, 1909, at Sharon, Pa. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Becker) Stumpf. At a young age, she moved to Peoria, Illinois, Betty was educated in Peoria and attended business school there. She worked for the T.P. & W. Railroad in Peoria as a bookkeeper until 1958. On July 4, 1947, Betty married Nathan Orth at Peoria, Illinois. The couple made their home in Peoria until March of 1958, when they moved to their farm near Rolfe. In 1992, the couple moved to Pocahontas. Nathan died on January 13, 1996, and Betty continued to make her home in Pocahontas. In January 2004, she entered the Rolfe Care Center.

Betty was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed needlework, sewing and tending her garden.

Survivors include several cousins; nieces and nephews; and Curt and De Sindergard, who took care of Betty's and Nathan's affairs in their later years.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nathan; sisters, Magdalena and Kathryn; and brothers, Fred, Adam and Joseph.
