GEORGE LOUIS LANUS

George Louis Lanus, age 67, died on November 19, 2010, at the Rolfe Care Center.

He was born on February 22, 1943, at Rolfe and was the son of Roy and Edna (Beuchle) Lanus. George grew up on the family farm and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1961. After completing his education, George served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. After being discharged from the service, he engaged in farming for several years. George drove semi-trucks, worked with cable television and did a lot of carpentry work before he was forced to retire due to failing health. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and camping in his spare time.

Survivors include his father: Roy Lanus of Humboldt; sisters: Dorothy (Eugene) Papenfuhs of Fair Play, Missouri, and Janice (John) Young of Rolfe; grandchildren: Danielle Lanus, Cody Lanus and Kyle Miller, all of Rolfe, Andrea Miller of Greenville, South Carolina, and Michael Miller of Ames and a great–granddaughter, Ryanne Miller of Rolfe.

George was preceded in death by his mother and daughter, Brenda Miller, and son Daniel Lanus.
