JOHN A. JENSEN

ROLFE — John A. Jensen, age 73, of Rolfe, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Humboldt Care Center North in Humboldt, Iowa.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at the Powers Funeral Home in Rolfe, with Fr. Merle Kollasch officiating. Burial is in St. Margaret’s Cemetery near Rolfe, Iowa. Visitation is one hour prior to services on Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home in Rolfe.

John A. Jensen, son of Albert and Connie (Meisenbach) Jensen, was born on April 11, 1933, on the family farm north of Rolfe. He graduated from the Des Moines Township High School in 1951. Following his graduation he attended Iowa State University for a period of time before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1953. John served his country as a Flight Mechanical Engineer aboard a Cargo Carrying Helicopter. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, John attended Devry’s Electrical Institute in Chicago, Ill. for a period of 2 years. Upon graduation from Devry’s John first worked for KSCJ radio station in Sioux City, Iowa as a radio engineer. In 1964 John became employed by Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative in LeMars, Iowa as a communication technician until 1973, leaving due to poor health. John returned to Rolfe and started a shop for repairing CB and commercial radios. In 1992 John closed his business and retired. He spent his remaining years involved with his hobby of doing computer genealogy research for family and friends. John also enjoyed hunting for early American artifacts as well as reading and visiting with friends.

John is survived by his mother, Connie Jensen of Rolfe; brothers, Donald and wife Janice of Humboldt, Russell and wife Edna of Spencer; sister Majorie Eeten of Spencer; as well as several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and brother-in-law, Pete Eeten.
