William Henderson

A memorial service to celebrate the life of William “Bill” Henderson will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 4010 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 3, 2009. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or to a favorite charity of your choice.

Bill was released from his eleven year battle with CCL on March 22, 2009 at VA Hospital in Temple, Texas. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff, nurses and doctors who cared for him especially Dr. Kennedy for his compassion and commitment to providing the best medical treatment.

Bill was born on October 18, 1929 in Plover, Iowa to Margaret and David Henderson. He grew up in Rolfe, Iowa. Although he moved away from Iowa in his 30’s, to pursue a different career, he always remained an Iowa farm boy at heart. When Bill moved to Texas he was already in the plumbing trade. He told everyone that he wasn’t born in Texas, but he got here as soon as he could.

He loved traveling in his R.V. with his family where enjoyed meeting new people and exploring new places. His last trip was to Kentucky in December 2008.

Bill was in the Air Force for four years and in 1957 he bought a fifth interest in an Aeronick 74C plane. He made his solo flight on July 24, 1958 and obtained his pilot’s license in 1961. Thereafter he flew his family all over the country visiting relatives and friends. He said that when he was up in the air all his troubles melted away.

Bill met his wife Pat while square dancing with the Capitol Solos in Austin, Texas. They were later married in 1987. He embraced his newly extended family with all his heart and open arms.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Henderson; sons, David Henderson and wife Pam and Paul Henderson; daughters, Elizabeth Henderson and Naomi Patterson; step-children, Diana Cagle, Barbara Cagle, Leslie Harber and husband Terry and Glenn Cagle; grandchildren, Eric Henderson, Michael Henderson, Sarah Henderson, Kyle Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Monica Cordell and husband Cecil, McKenzie Justice and Kristy Newman; great-grandchildren, Christopher Cordell, Robert Cordell and Ethan Justin; sister, Jeanie Trulsen and husband Kenneth; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill has asked us to inform his friends and customers that the semi-retired Master Plumber has finally retired. He thanks you all for your kindness and friendships.
