obituary from newspaper LEONA HENDERSON Plover — Leona Henderson, 75, of Plover, died September 1, 2002, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Services were 1000 a.m. Thursday, September 5, at Hope United Methodist Church in Plover, with burial in Powhatan Cemetery, Plover. Survivors include her husband Leonard of Plover; daughter Joan McCullough of Osceola, Indiana; son Dan of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Heidi, Jill, and Abbey McCullough, and Taryn and Britt Henderson; sisters, Jeane Burke of Fort Dodge and Jeanette Schultz of Mason City; along with her mother, Viola White of Mallard. She was preceded in death by her father Henry White; son Curt Henderson; and sister Agatha Hines. Leona (White) Henderson, the daughter of Henry and Viola (Smith) White, was born June 22, 1927, in Mallard, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from the Mallard High School. She then attended Iowa Teachers College In Cedar Falls. On June 20, 1948, she was united in marriage with Leonard Henderson in Mallard. After their marriage the couple lived in Plover. During that time, Leona taught school at the Des Moines Township School in Rolfe, Plover, and Havelock until her retirement in 1989. Leona was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star of Plover. |
