MARGARET N. HENDERSON

Rolfe Margaret N. Henderson. age 92, of Mulberry, Indiana, formerly of Rolfe, died Saturday. June 22, 2002, at the Mulberry Lutheran Home in Mulberry, Indiana.

Funeral services were 1030 a.m. Friday, June 28, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rolfe with Pastor Christopher Truelsen officiating. Burial was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.

Survivors include her son William (Pat) Henderson of Georgetown. Texas; daughter Jeanie (Kenneth) Truelsen of West LaFayette, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; sisters. Anna Sophia Esperson and Dorothy Gaskill; and brother. Emil Johansen.

Margaret Nikoline Johansen was born on October 13, 1909, near Rolfe. She was the daughter of Mads and Matilda (Andersen) Johansen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Nain Lutheran Church in Rolfe. Margaret was educated at the DMT school, graduating from high school there in 1927. On April 20, 1929, she married David Henderson at Humboldt. The couple farmed on their farm north of Rolfe for their entire married life. Margaret cared for her cousin Sofas Nielsen for many years. Margaret and David spent their winters in Arizona and Margaret continued to travel to Arizona after David died in May of 1979. In 1992, she entered the Mulberry Lutheran Home in Mulberry, Indiana.

Margaret was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was a life-long member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid. She belonged to a birthday club and a 500 club in Rolfe.
