ARNOLD W. “BUD” HANSEN Rolfe — Arnold W. ‘Bud’ Hansen, age 85, of Rolfe, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2006, at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, with Reverend Brian King officiating. Burial was at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe. Arnold Watson Hansen was born February 26, 1921, at Rolfe, the son of Lawrence Anthony and Hylah Lavina [Hayward] Hansen. He attended the Rolfe Elementary School and graduated from the Rolfe High School with the class of 1939. On December 8, 1943, he was united in marriage to Evelyn May Strait at the Presbyterian Church in Rolfe. To this union three children were born: Larry A., Dana M. and Marcia K. They were lifelong residents of Rolfe. “Bud’ (as he was known) worked for L.A. Hansen and Son Road Construction with his father, and then became owner/operator of Hansen Dozer and Dirt Work, retiring in 1979. He also did mechanical repair, was an Inventor of gadgets, and a machinist engineer. He loved sports and was a member of the Rolfe basketball teams who won Iowa State Championships in 1934-35, 1936-37 and 1938-39. He loved to play pool, cards, and had hobbies with model airplanes, go-carts, and stockcars. He was a member of the Rolfe Presbyterian Church. Bud Hansen is survived by his children, Larry Hansen of Waverly, Darla Hansen and husband Randy of Iowa Falls, and Marcia Marchant and husband Roger of Iowa Falls; four grandchildren, Andrew Watson Hansen, Michael Paul Hansen, Roger Dean Marchant and Robin Kay (Marchant) Wagner; and four great-grandchildren. Madisyn Janea Hansen, Alivia Mae Hansen, Rayne NaKayla Wagner and Reeve Hezekiah Wagner. He was preceded in death by his parents. L. A. and Hylah Hansen; his wife, Evelyn Hansen; a great-grandson. Reed John Wagner; and two sisters, Marjorie Strait and Cleo Perrin.
