ARTHUR EDWARD ERICKSON

Rolfe — Arthur Edward Erickson, age 94, passed away on November 6,. 2007 at Rolfe. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Shared Ministry in Rolfe with Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Burial was at the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe with graveside military rites provided by, the Rolfe American Legion. Powers Funeral Home in Rolfe were in charge arrangements.

Arthur Edward Erickson was born on February 10, 1913, at Thompson. He was the son of Elmer and Amelia (Jensen) Erickson. Art graduated from Thompson High School in 1932. On February 18, 1933, Art married Beryl B. Beyer at Tekamah, Neb. The couple made their home in Buffalo Center until 1940, when they moved to Rolfe. Art contracted homes and outside buildings in the area.

He served In the U.S. Army during WW II. The couple moved to California in 1960, where Art worked as a maintenance Superintendent at Atherton Baptist Homes. In 1977, he retired and the couple moved back to Rolfe. Beryl died on May 26, 2001. Art entered the Rolfe Care Center in March of 2004.

Art was a Trustee and Elder in the Presbyterian Church, receiving the Outstanding Senior Presbyterian Award in 1989. He belonged to the Lions Club, the R.B.I., Senior Citizens, the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed woodworking and making toys for his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughter, Marilyn (Lawrence) Nelson of Humboldt; sons, Dale Erickson of Cathedral City, Calif., Wayne (Carol) Erickson of Rolfe, Ron (Margie) Erickson of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Don (Marge) Erickson of Fountain Valley, Calif.; thirteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beryl; daughter and son-in-law, Donnie, and Gary Smith; brother, Irwin; and sisters, Clara Ingebritson, Mabel Tangen, Hilda, Martinson, and a sister who died in infancy.
