DON CLEAL

Rolfe — Don Cleal, age 90, of Rolfe died on January 2, 2006, at the Rolfe Care Center. Funeral services were 11:00 am. Thursday, January 5, 2006, at the Shared Ministry in Rolfe with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.

Don was born February 23, 1915, on the family farm in Rolfe to Arthur and Matilda (Strobel) Cleal. He graduated from Rolfe Community High School in 1932 and began farming with his father. On August 18, 1940, Don married Frances Rogers at the Presbyterian parsonage in Rolfe. They farmed and lived on the family farm together until Frances’ death in 1987. Don remained on the farm for another year and then moved to town.

Don was an active member of the Rolfe Presbyterian Church where he served as trustee and deacon. He was a 50 year member of the Mason’s and enjoyed farming, dancing, and taking afternoon drives.

Survivors include two sisters, Ivadel Porter of Iowa Falls and Dorothy Ingebritsen of Bella Vista, Ark.: daughters, Joan Dreith of Rolfe and Ann Biittner of Pocahontas; grandsons, Tim Biittner of Urbandale, Robert Biittner of Des Moines, and Brian (Amy) Dreith of Sac City; and great-grandson Gunner Biittner.

Don was preceded in death by his wife Francis, brother Richard, sister Vera, and daughter Beverly.
