Rolfe -- Rose R. Calligan, age 88, of Altus, Oklahoma, formerly of Rolfe, died Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, at St. Margarets’s Church in Rolfe, with Father Merle Kollasch officiating. Burial was in St. Margaret’s Cemetery in Rolfe.

Survivors include sons, Patrick J. (Fran) Calligan of Derby, Kansas, Michael P. (Kaye) Calligan of Altus, Oklahoma, and Dennis (Sandra) Calligan of Norman, Oklahoma: six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren: and sister Dorothy Cowell of Des Moines. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, two sisters, and one brother.

Rose Regilda Schmidt was born on October 30, 1913, at Manning. She was the daughter of Fritz and Bertha (Steen) Schmidt. Rose was educated at Manning schools. On April 17, 1941, she married Harold G. Calligan at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Rolfe. Harold died on May 15, 1973. Rose continued to make her home in Rolfe until 1986, when she moved to Humboldt. In 1997, Rose moved to Altus, Oklahoma.
