Obituary

Larry T. Burns, age 60, died on June 18, 2000, at Rolfe. Funeral services were held on June 21, at the Shared Ministry of Rolfe. Burial was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.

Larry Troy Burns was born on July 20, 1939, near Plover. He was the son of Everett and Darlene (Lowe) Burns. Larry was educated in Rolfe schools and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1957. After he completed his education, Larry worked in Humboldt. In the early 1960’s, he began farming. In March of 1982, he quit farming and became the owner-operator of the Rolfe Lounge.

Larry was a member of the Shared Ministry, the R.B.I., the Pocahontas Cattlemen, the Rolfe Saddle Club and A.B.A.T.E.. He had been very active in the F.F.A. in high school and continued to be an active sponsor. Larry enjoyed playing pool, horses and antique tractor pulling in his spare time.

Survivors include his children: Jane (Larry) Nelson of Rolfe, Janet (Dave) Middleton of Humboldt, Judy (Dennis) Reising of Polk City, Jim (Kris) Burns of Sergeant Bluff, Jennifer (Randy) Trenary of Rolfe, James Burns of Rolfe and Jarrod (Kristy) Burns of Rolfe; fifteen grandchildren; mother: Darlene Burns of Rolfe; sister: Jeniece (Ray) Hoopingarner of Rolfe and his brother: Lyle Elwyn Burns of Rolfe.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Everett Burns.
