RICHARD "DICK" BIERSTEDT

Rolfe — Richard “Dick” Bierstedt, age 78, of Rolfe, died Monday, February 7, 2005, at Trinity Regional Medical Center In Fort Dodge.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church In Rolfe with Pastor Lilette Johnston officiating. Burial was in Clinton—Garfield Cemetery near Rolfe.

Richard Herman Bierstedt was born on June 30, 1926, at Whittemore. He was the son of Theodore and Mathilda (Hackbarth) Bierstedt. Dick was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Whittemore. He was educated at Whittemore, graduating from high school in 1939. He served in the U. S. Navy in both the European and Pacific Theaters, during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Whittemore. Oh October 23, 1946, he married Alice Heinrich at Whittemore. The couple made their home In Whittemore until 1950, when they moved Rolfe. Dick managed the Phillips 66 Station and later the Co-op station in Rolfe. He retired in June of 1988.

Dick was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church having served as a trustee for many years. He was past Commander of the Rolfe American Legion Post #25 and served as the Rolfe Fire Chief for several years. In his spare time, Dick enjoyed fishing.

Survivors Include his wife, Alice of Rolfe: daughters, Diane (Jim) Liedman of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Karen (Rick) Johnson of Rolfe; and grandchildren, Jana and Ron Thompson, David Liedman, Joel and Silvia Johnson, and Karl Johnson.

Dick was preceded In death by his parents.
