CECELIA BEHRENDSEN

Gilmore City — Cecelia Behrendsen, 77, of Gilmore City, Iowa, died Friday, May 3, 2002, at the Humboldt Community Hospital.

Services were held at 1030 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Gilmore City, with Rev. Eugene Ulses officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery, Gilmore City.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Wagner and husband Dale of Creston, Mary Shimon and husband Ray of Pocahontas; son Butch Behrendsen and wife Colleen of Gilmore City; 11 grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren two sisters, Veronica Andersen of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Alice Jensen of Gilmore City. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Iver in 1983; three grandchildren (Cory and two in infancy); and her sister Kathleen Jennings.

Cecelia (Bradley) Behrendsen, the daughter of Dan and Mary (Fox) Bradley, was born June 27, 1924, in Fort Dodge. She attended school in Pioneer, where she graduated from high school. She married Iver Behrendsen on November 27, 1943, in Gilmore City. The couple farmed west of Gilmore City for many years and moved to town in 1974. Cecelia also worked at Industrial Hydraulics in Pocahontas for ten years and the past five years at Casey’s in Gilmore City.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the St. John’s Rosary Sodality, Gilmore City.
